Arte-Factual: Mongolian Tug (Rise of the Tomb Raider)

Spoiler warning: This article does not contain any plot or location spoilers for Rise of the Tomb Raider. However, I leave it entirely up to the reader to decide whether they wish to continue scrolling down or not… In her quest to find Kitezh in the frozen hinterlands of Siberia, Lara Croft stumbles upon the remains of the ancient armies and intrepid explorers who have tried (and failed) to conquer this once-glorious and remote city. One of the artefacts Lara discovers throughout the course of the game is a battle-damaged Mongolian tug, a relic of a failed Mongol invasion in the ... [Continue Reading]

First Look at Mariko Tamaki’s New ‘Tomb Raider’ Series

Eisner Award-winning writer Mariko Tamaki’s new Tomb Raider comic series is set to launch later this month and will be picking up where Rise of the Tomb Raider left off. It’s not yet clear whether the events of the game will be referenced in this new series, given that the Dark Horse website describes it as “a perfect jumping-on point for new readers”, but the first issue’s synopsis suggests that our heroine will be continuing her search for the world’s secrets of immortality. Lara Croft is pursuing a lost truth about the world that just might unlock the ... [Continue Reading]

And if this wasn’t enough, Crystal Dynamics and the Utrecht-based Nixxes Software teamed up with Nvidia to push the PC version to its limits and use ground-breaking techniques to create the most immersive and realistic-looking ... Tomb Raider Tidbit: Truth Behind Myth

There have been times where I’ve come across an object in a Tomb Raider game that caught my eye but didn’t write an article about it because it didn’t quite fit the scope of my Arte-Factual series. So to remedy this, I’ve decided to launch a new series that will tackle anything that either doesn’t warrant a full in-depth feature or simply doesn’t fit neatly under any of the site’s existing series. The subject of this very first edition of “Tomb Raider Tidbits” is Lord Richard Croft’s book, Truth Behind Myth, which makes a few ... [Continue Reading]

For the benefit of aspiring cosplayers, I’ve added links to cosplay tutorials and videos where possible. Don’t forget that a wealth of information, reference pictures, and handy tips for crafting many of Lara’s outfits and accessories can be found over at ... [Continue Reading]

The Archaeology of Tomb Raider’s Year in Review: 2015

2015 has been an emotional roller coaster of a year for Tomb Raider fans. We’ve had announcements about new spin-off media, seen the release of not one but three new games, and had to deal with the fallout (no pun intended) of Rise of the Tomb Raider’s console exclusivity deal. It’s been a particularly trying time for Tomb Raider fansite admins, who’ve spent the better part of the year feeling torn between promoting a game half of the fan base wouldn’t be able to play until 2016 and doing their duty to keep their readers informed about all the latest news and ...
